In his eight years of private practice as an environmental attorney and facilitator David Dicks developed significant legal expertise and an understanding about how environmental problems can be solved. David is an Endangered Species Act and Clean Water Act expert and has vast experience with all environmental laws. His practice focused on Puget Sound, salmon recovery, and other natural resource projects. He has helped clients in Washington, Oregon, and California achieve major successes and was selected by his peers for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America in 2007 and 2008.
As the first Executive Director of the Puget Sound Partnership, David was instrumental in development of the Puget Sound Action Agenda, an ecosystem-based roadmap for Puget Sound cleanup and protection efforts that has paved the way for restoring the Sound by 2020.
The Action Agenda, and the Puget Sound effort overall, was quickly recognized by Congress and the Administration as a national model for ecosystem-based restoration. His efforts in both Washington State and Washington DC have helped to radically increase national support for and awareness of Puget Sound recovery, as well as other national restoration efforts.
